I found this metal magnetic yard sign at a craft store… it’s main purpose was to hold cute magnetic signs. ( although the signs seemed to be MIA, or that’s what the store worker told me). I decided that it would be much cuter as a chalkboard.
I brought it home, roughed it up a bit with some sand paper and painted three coats of chalkboard paint…
Lately I have been in full Christmas mode. Not a whole lot has been painted, although I have been very creative in my package wrapping, my cookie making and then onto my chalkboard drawing…
I have not drawn on my chalkboard a whole lot since painting it, so I was thinking this would be a perfect time, and it would make my house look festive!
If you would like to see how I did this chalkboard, go here.
Note: I DID THIS AND IT SMEARED AFTER A WEEK OR SO…READ here TO SEE HOW I CAME UP WITH A SOLUTION!
1. Purchase cardboard tags or bookmarks…
2.Paint each tag with two coats of chalkboard paint
3. Write your message on the tag using regular chalk
4. Lightly sprat the tags with a clear protective coat to prevent from severely smearing….
word of advice: do not spray too close as the spray will remove the chalk!
SO this was the chalkboard at our rental house….notice the “W”
I copied the chalkboard idea at our new house, but it was missing one thing…the “W”
So I printed out a W and cut it out to make a stencil…
Then I taped the stencil up on the chalkboard…
and I did a sponge paint affect!
and here is the finished product…from a distance of course!
Chalkboard painted gift tags
I love using Pinterest for ideas to try( especially around the holidays!)
I will be doing these for sure on all the Christmas presents!
I was thinking you could do simple rectangle tags or you could even get creative and do other shapes!
I found this here.
I also tried this see it here.
