Paint a Growth Chart…

Happy Tuesday…I would like to say that things have been pretty normal, but that is not the case.  I have been running around entertaining relatives for the last couple days, and even though I have loved every second of it, I am tired.  I did manage to squeeze in a project however…a growth chart I have been wanting to do for months now.  Here is the before and after…

Here are the steps I did to make this growth chart…

I had my husband cut the wood to the exact measurement that I wanted.  I am hanging the chart a foot from the ground and starting at 2 feet and ended with 5 feet and some room above.

I took three equal pieces and drilled them to the backs of the wood…make sure the screws do not go to the front…

I traced an image of a tree using white chalk…

I then painted the tree on using a cream color crafters paint.

I also paint a red accent bird…

Painted letters

image

Ok so I have to admit, I cheated on this one…I actually got the letters from Michaels crafts in the clearance section however they needed something more!  That is where this post comes in to play….

I purchased the letters…

I wanted something to tie them together and so I went into our garage and found some left over wood.  I cut the pieces into a plus shape.  A + B….

I wanted the distress of the other letters to match, so I took some black paint and water and did a wash on the wood.  Then I took some blue chalk and lightly covered the surface to give it some more color.
